Disinformation campaigns reduce trust in democracy, harm democratic institutions, and endanger public health safety. While disinformation misinformation are not new, their rapid widespread dissemination has only recently been made possible by technological developments that enable never-before-seen levels of mass communication persuasion.Today, a mix social media, algorithms, personal profiling, psychology new dimension political messaging—a disinformers exploit for gain. These enablers share root cause—the poor data privacy security regime the U.S.At its core, democracy requires independent thought, autonomy, institutions.
